Labia Majora Augmentation by Fat transfer Orlando
Labia majora augmentation using autologous fat transfer is a cosmetic surgery procedure that enhances the shape, increases the size, improves firmness, and corrects any proportional imbalances. To be considered as a suitable candidate for this procedure you should be in good physical shape, normal weight, have elasticity in the skin and be realistic about the surgery.
Procedure:
Normally patients have the labia majora augmentation by fat transfer done as outpatients and it generally takes between fifteen and thirty minutes to complete. The most common methods of fat transfer to the labia majora are tumescent liposculpturing and autologous fat transfer (your own fat).
Tumescent Liposculpturing:
A solution called tumescent fluid is prepared by the surgeon consisting of adrenaline and anesthetics. He then inserts the fluid into the areas to be treated via small access points. The purpose of the solution is to minimize bleeding, numb the area, and make it easier to remove the excess fat. He then inserts an instrument called a cannula to loosen and vacuum out the fat.
Autologous Fat Transfer
The autologous fat transfer procedure consists of using your own fat that was collected at the liposculpturing procedure. When the fat has been collected it is washed and processed with a double antibiotic solution. It is then put into syringes that are connected to a special cannula by tubing. The fat is then aesthetically injected into labia majora leaving it with a more youthful and aesthetically enhanced look. Patients may choose to have the fat transfer done only on the labia majora or they can choose to have multiple areas done by liposculpturing. If they decide to have multiple areas done, the following information is applicable.
Preparing for surgery:
At your initial consultation it is very important that you are totally honest. You should supply the doctor with you medical history and inform him of any medications, herbs, and vitamins you are using. Here are some things you can do to help shorten recovery time and decrease the chances of complications.
Stop taking Aspirin, and that means any medication containing Aspirin, Naprosyn, Ibuprofen, Vitamin E, and other supplements. These medications thin the blood and may cause bleeding, excessive bruising, and other complications. The clinic will supply you with a complete list of medications and supplements to be avoided before the surgery.
Nicotine can slow the healing process and impair circulation so it should be stopped at least two weeks before the procedure and for one week after the surgery.
Your alcohol intake should be limited for two weeks before the liposculpturing procedure and for one week following. In the days before the liposculpturing procedure you should drink lots of water.
Recovery:
There will be some pain, bruising and swelling after the surgery. You may feel like the areas that have been treated have lost sensations. You should not worry about this as the sensation and feeling will return as the nerves regenerate. It may be several months before the swelling disappears. The doctor will prescribe medication to control any discomfort but if the pain becomes too severe you must contact your doctor.
Every patient has a different recovery time, but generally a patient is walking around one day after the procedure. For the first one or two days there will probably be excess tumescent fluid draining from the access points and you may also have some fluid tinged with blood. Two or three days after the surgery you can have a shower. You may need to stay away from work for one week, but this depends on the number of areas you had treated. Strenuous activity should be avoided for two or three weeks.
After several weeks you will see the results of your procedures. The areas that were treated should look great and as long as you stay at the same weight, they will keep their sculptured appearance.
